If you’re subscribed to the Buzz newsletter you already know what I’m about to share. But I thought I’d let the rest of the readers here know about the big news too.

So what’s the big news?

I plan to start an online radio show for Battle Ground, WA!

That’s right a live radio show for the people of Battle Ground. It’ll feature news, interviews and so much more!

How?

How will I do this?

Good question.

I’ve never done a radio show before…but I’ve also never done a hyperlocal media site…well, until 3 months ago that is. And I’m learning a lot as I build the Buzz.

One of the lessons I’m learning is you don’t have to know everything before you take action. Now there’s nothing wrong with planning and preparation but personally I’ve had a history of too much planning and too little action.

But life is too short to continue to suffer from “paralysis of analysis.” I think one of the best ways to fight this syndrome is to step out even before you think you’re “ready”.

It might sound foolish. But think about it. Do you learn best by reading and planning or by doing? I recently talked to Mayor Ciraulo who insisted you would learn more about local government by serving one term in elected office than by getting your master’s degree in political science.

And I can tell you from my own experience that I’ve learned more about freelance writing from actually doing it than from any book I’ve read or class I’ve attended.

When?

So with this in mind I plan to launch the BG Buzz Radio Show in January 2012.

Why January?

Well, I feel like next month would be too soon and if I wait longer than January I fear I’ll lose interest

So January it is!

I’m so excited about this I can’t even explain! I don’t know why I’m so excited but it’s the same feeling I get before I play a hockey game or climb a mountain. I think it’s the feeling of a new adventure. A challenge which could go one of two ways. Success or failure. It’s a rush!

I’ll also challenge you today. What new adventure awaits you in your life? What new direction would you like to take in your business? Are there things you want to do “one day” but have yet to take action?

Why not turn that “one day” into an actual date in the future? Will you actually accomplish the goal you set? Maybe, maybe not.

But I guarantee you this…trying and failing is much more satisfying than the feeling of regret.

So as we near the end of 2011 it’s a good time to start thinking of what you want to accomplish in 2012.
